The purpose of the instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach the Red Cross Lifeguarding, Shallow Water Lifeguarding, Waterfront Skills, Waterpark Skills, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers, Administering Emergency Oxygen and Bloodborne Pathogens Training: Preventing Disease Transmission courses and/or modules. Instructor candidates will also become familiar with Junior Lifeguarding, Lifeguard Management, Safety Training for Swim Coaches and Basic Water Rescue.
Prerequisite requirements for this course: Must be at least 17 years of age; must possess a current ARC Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED Certificate; successfully complete the online introduction to the Lifeguarding Instructor Course; must complete the in-person pre-course session on the first day at RDV. Also, you will be given your print version of the Lifeguarding Instructor manual during the first day on-site.
Classes will be held Sunday the first weekend and Saturday & Sunday the second weekend. Attendance is mandatory at all class sessions. Times each day will be 8:30am-4:30pm.
Registration and complete registration fee is required a minimum of one week in advance. When we have received your registration fee, you will be sent an email containing the deep link for the on-line component of this class. When you follow the link, you will be prompted to set up your American Red Cross profile and upon receipt of the $35 fee to ARC you will have access to the required on-line course. When you complete the on-line course please print out the completion certificate, it will need to be presented on the first day of class. A minimum of 4 people are required for a Lifeguarding Instructor class to be conducted. If a class is canceled for low enrollment you will be contacted by phone and email the Monday before the class begins. You will be given the option of attending the next class or receiving a refund.
